(a removal of excess fat) is a procedure which allows to contour and sculpture the body by removing excessive adipose tissue from particular body parts such as e.g. abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, chin or knees.
It makes it possible to remove the unwanted fat which cannot be removed by any traditional treatment.
The choice of anesthesia depends on the scope and location of the procedure. Smaller procedures may be performed under local anesthesia. In other cases general anesthesia is used.
The procedure consists in making a small incision through which a cannula is inserted under the skin, into the area of the fat tissue which we are going to remove. At the beginning of the procedure a special fluid is inserted through the cannula. The fluid is used to make the small blood vessels contract during the surgery and it also contains a local anesthetic.
Afterwards a "working" tube of an adequate diameter is inserted. It is connected to an apparatus which vibrates and uses negative pressure in order to vacuum out broken up fat cells. The cannula is moved back and forth under the skin in order to remove the fat layer evenly.
All incisions are made in the places which are difficult to notice.
